Chloe*, our former patient and a new mom, has a special message for everyone who makes Care Net’s clinic possible. At Care Net’s recent banquet, she described herself as “like Dorothy” and she found her “Munchkinland” in First Care Clinic. She told her story in the “Best Decision” video and then shared the following words with banquet guests.

Remember in the Wizard of Oz, how the first ten minutes or so is in black and white? As the audience, we are unsure as to what color everything is. Are those pigs pink? Is the barn red? Dorothy herself probably wasn’t even aware that her own dress was blue, let alone know what blue was, until she landed in Munchkinland. She never knew that colors even existed. She never knew what she was missing out on — until she experienced it.
That was me before having my son, Ethan*. I was perfectly content with life, because I never knew what I was missing out on. But now that I am seeing in color, I realize all that I have been missing out on, and I am so blessed to now be experiencing my colorful life with my son.
Just like Dorothy, I too met strangers who would help change my life. During my four hour visit I met Julie, who not only provided me with all the information I needed, but consoled and guided me. Julie helped me to look inside myself for the answers that were already there. I also met Melody, who performed my ultrasound. That’s where I got to see my son for the very first time. I cannot thank the both of them enough, for their kindness and compassion.
First Care Clinic was my Munchkinland- the place where everything changed for me. Just like Dorothy, I arrived confused and scared, unsure of many things. But while I was there, I learned everything I needed to know to prepare me for the journey that laid ahead. When I left, I left confident, knowledgeable, and excited. I was ready to go home.
I cannot say enough good things about First Care Clinic. The quality of care that I received while there was nothing short of exceptional. I cannot sing their praises enough. This is the absolute best place to start for any woman out there who faces an unintended pregnancy.
So from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Thank you to not only all of the First Care clinic staff, but to all of those who make the clinic possible, through their generous contributions. Your money is going to a wonderful cause. To everyone who contributes something so that First Care Clinic can open its doors each day and help women who need it, my little munchkin and I thank you.
