We opened our mail and found this: A birth announcement with a sticky note thanking us for our care and our prayers. Lily’s mom wanted to share her gratitude. We were thrilled to celebrate Lily’s birth with her!
Here’s what this new mom told us.
“I had only been in Wisconsin for two months when I took a positive pregnancy test. I had moved to be with my boyfriend, my “soul mate.” I had found my dream job in a nearby town. I thought that everything I had ever wanted was finally happening.
“At first, the positive test filled me with joy. When I shared the pregnancy test with my boyfriend, he told me, “God has a plan for us.”
“The next day he broke up with me in a text message, telling me that he did not love me and could not be there for me during the pregnancy.
“I felt so lost and confused. I didn’t have health insurance. I had no savings. I had no friends. My family lived on the other side of the country.
“I called several clinics trying to find one that would confirm my pregnancy. No one would take me without insurance. Finally, one of the clinics referred me to Care Net.
“I was so anxious waiting outside Care Net for my appointment. I was still nervous when I walked inside, but I was immediately welcomed and felt comforted. There was no judgement as I told my story. The technician let me call my mom while she performed the ultrasound. I was able to feel joy again when I saw my daughter’s heartbeat on the screen.
“The women at Care Net offered to pray for me and called me to check in. It made me feel so much less alone.
“I ended up moving back home with my parents during my pregnancy. I found another job close to home. My baby girl is growing up surrounded by people who love her and I am so grateful for her every day. She is truly the biggest blessing of my life.
“I am so thankful for everyone at Care Net. They made making the right decision an easier decision.”
